LifeNet4Families We CAN Do It Gala
Gala to raise money to provide thousands of meals to Broward County’s hungry
LifeNet4Families is bursting with pride presented this year’s “We CAN Do It!” Gala on Saturday, December 1st at the Historic Stranahan House Museum with WPLG Anchor Calvin Hughes as Master of Ceremonies to applaud 27 years of serving the homeless and hungry families of South Florida.
At the core of LifeNet4 Families’ mission is empowering people to overcome personal crisis. We accomplish this by feeding hungry bodies, minds and souls through the provision of nutritious food, information, and by referral to our partner agencies. These combined resources work to reduce hunger and poverty. “As we enter our 28th year of service, we invite everyone to join us for a casual evening in Jacket and Jeans while helping to raise money that will positively impact the quality of life for thousands of at-risk families and individuals,” says Russell T. Martin, LifeNet4Families Chief Executive Officer.
The evening began at 7pm with a cocktail reception followed by a buffet dinner, live music by Galo, silent auction and a live auction. This celebration is made possible by sponsorships from Consolidated Credit Counseling Services Inc., Gibraltar Private Bank, Holy Cross Hospital, Park West Galleries, Boca Real Estate Investment Club, Transworld Business Advisors, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Southern Wine and Spirits, Broward Health, Holland America, Independence Title, Kaufman, Rossin & Co., Tastebuds Catering, and P|R|D|C.
Formerly known as the Cooperative Feeding Program, LifeNet4Families is a non-profit agency that has been serving the needs of children, working poor families and elderly and homeless Broward County residents for more than 26 years. The agency operates 365 days a year and provides 400-600 healthy meals per day to people who would otherwise go hungry as well as more than 4,000 monthly food boxes for families who can’t afford to buy enough groceries. Much more than a food bank, LifeNet4Families also provides baby supplies, shoes and clothing, emergency financial assistance, help finding low cost housing and emergency shelter, a phone and mail message center that is often the only means of contact with family and potential employers and basic essentials like shower facilities, hygiene products, haircuts and whatever else makes daily life a little easier.
