Chef Dean James Max held his 10th Annual Benefit Dinner for Kids In Distress at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. Max and his epicurean entourage of some of South Florida’s hottest chefs, each took a turn preparing a dish to make up a delectable five course dinner.   

The restaurant was festive and sparkled with holiday décor as guests mingled, sipped Champaign and tasted an array of passed canapés, prepared by 3800 Oceans, Lauren Deshields.  The night continued with 3030’s own, Jeremy Fords scrumptious snapper ceviche followed by Sugarcane Raw Bars, Timon Baloo’s dish of grouper and clam flumet that left palates dancing with delight.  

The dishes kept coming and guests kept indulging as Paula DaSilva of 1500, took to the stage with a ricotta agnolotti and homemade sausage dish that left guests raving into the late hours.  The last entrée was a tender beef short rib, seasoned to perfection by Jason Smith of Steak 954 and was followed by a rendition of black forest cake, expertly prepared by Christian Capo of the Ritz-Carlton.

Jim Boswell with Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery was on deck all evening and paired with perfection the wines to each course.  There was nothing overlooked; each wine captured the essence of its partnered dish and balanced beautifully so that guests could taste and smell every delicate note.

Proceeds from the ticket sales and well heeled silent auction benefit Kids In Distress (KID) of Broward and Palm Beach Counties.  The generosity of guests bidding in the silent auction alone exceeded $10,000.  “Chef Dean and the Marriott Harbor Beach have been supporting our organization for 10 wonderful years through this event. We are incredibly grateful for that kind of commitment, especially in today’s fluctuating times.” said KID Board Member, Mr. William C. Spencer.
