On October 11, 2006, a beautiful sunset provided a dramatic background as guests attired in festive island attire gathered at Grill 66 Restaurant & Bar in
While guests enjoyed the spectacular sunset and sipped on tropical drinks, they browsed the Silent Auction Items as Black-Tie attired staff served them scrumptious hors d’oeuvres.
Greg Sandefur of Sand Dollar Distributors, Facing It Together Board Member & Event Chairman, started the evening’s program by welcoming and thanking guests for their support and gave recognition to the many event sponsors. A superb dinner and outstanding service by Grill 66 Restaurant and Bar was enjoyed by all those in attendance.
Sean Guerin of U.S. Imaging Solutions, Facing It Together Board Member and Marketing Chairman, introduced a special guest speaker, Lauren Miller, who spoke about the challenges she had growing up with a craniofacial disorder. She commended the crowd for attending the event and stressed how important Facing It Together is to children and families who don’t have the financial resources to pay for surgeries and other much needed treatments.
Shane Strum of Blue Frog Solutions, Facing It Together Board Member, introduced a very moving “Facing It Together” video.
A rousing Live Auction with auctioneer Neil Saffer featured items including: a Leon Loard Oil Portrait donated by Leon Loard Oil Portraits, a three day/two night trip to Atlantis, donated by Atlantis Resorts & Spirit Airlines; Judith Ripka jewelry, donated by J.R. Dunn Jewelers; Snowmass Condo for one week, donated by Dr’s. Lisa & Joel Slingbaum; and a fabulous Sports Package, donated by Greg & Kim Sandefur; and a week at the Stelnicki’s North Carolina home, donated by Eric and Mary Stelnicki.
Eric Stelnicki, M.D., Facing It Together Chairman of the Board, spoke about a six-year-old boy named Freddy who was born without ears. Freddy’s family does not have insurance and cannot afford the costly surgery to help their child. Funds raised this evening will help Freddy get the medical attention he needs so he can look and feel normal, explained Dr. Stelnicki.
