16th Annual Wine & Culinary Celebration
raised nearly $150,000 to support the
Museum of Discovery and Science.
 
The 16th Annual Wine & Culinary Celebration, held at the Museum of Discovery and Science on April 1, 2011, raised over $150,000 to benefit the Museum. Chaired by Ken Stiles, Ryan Shea and Matt Olsen the event was made possible by the generosity of Bank of America. More than 1,400 guests enjoyed tantalizing cuisine, music and a bountiful silent auction. The Auction was chaired by Janet Buhl and committee chaired by Nila Do.
 
The Wine & Culinary Celebration featured a progressive sequence of wine and food pairings, selected to delight, educate and entertain guests. Over 30 of South Florida’s top restaurants and chefs were represented, as well as wines from wineries around the world, courtesy of Southern Wine and Spirits. The event also featured a silent auction and a complimentary Riedel wine glass for every guest. 
 
The evening began with an exclusive VIP Martini Reception from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. VIP guests enjoyed priority access to the Grand Tasting which was coupled with the Chef Spotlight cooking demonstrations. The spectacular Chef Spotlight and wine pairings offered by “Champagne Wayne” Ballard were coupled with cooking demonstrations by Chef Oliver Saucy of Café Maxx, Chef Marc Gruverman of The Capital Grille and Chef Sean McDonald of ilios. The VIP evening concluded with exclusive access to the ultra chic Fort Lauderdale Hilton VIP Lounge in the Museum’s Atrium from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY AND SCIENCE
The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs and films. Founded in 1976 as The Discovery Center, the nonprofit facility serves approximately 450,000 visitors annually. Major operational support for the Museum is provided through generous support by Leadership Guild members including: JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Broward Health, Sun-Sentinel and Wachovia.
 
The Museum is open seven days a week, 365 days a year; Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. with extended IMAX® hours on most evenings. General Admission prices are $16 for adults; $15 for seniors; $12 for children 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free. A General Admission Ticket includes admission to the Museum exhibits and one 45-minute IMAXÒ film. The Museum of Discovery and Science is located downtown at 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312.
