Light Up Lauderdale Glowing Strong!
Downtown Promenade of Holiday Lights
on display through January 14

Santa’s arrival and a skydiving exhibition from the Redbull Airforce on Friday, Nov. 26 launched the holiday season and Light Up Lauderdale, an annual seven-week celebration of glittering holiday lights presented by the Riverwalk Trust in association with the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Guests had the season’s first look at the elaborate Light Up Lauderdale displays along the Riverwalk.  Adults and children enjoyedentertainment, games and rides, food vendors and much more at the event.

Light Up Lauderdale is one of the nation’s most unique holiday celebrations, with its promenade of light displays and menu of activities along the Riverwalk Park and throughout downtown.   Highlighting the city’s one-of-a-kind tropical backdrop, the Winterfest-sanctioned  program runs through mid-January 2011.

Riverwalk Trust once again connects Fort Lauderdale's businesses, residents and visitors in one spectacular setting. This is your chance to get involved!" said Mark Budwig, Riverwalk Trust board chairman.

In its third year, the free-to-the-public Light Up Lauderdale holiday spectacular showcases the mile-long brick Riverwalk pathway in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, giving residents and workers alike opportunities to enjoy the beautiful city center.  Thousands of lights will adorn the downtown area and Riverwalk Park including Huizenga Plaza, Stranahan House, the Historic District and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

“Light Up Lauderdale is one of our City's most anticipated holiday traditions,” said Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler.  “Each year, thousands of residents and visitors are drawn to Downtown Fort Lauderdale to see our picturesque Riverwalk transformed into a spectacular holiday destination.  As part of this festive tradition, the City of Fort Lauderdale is proud to partner with Riverwalk Trust to kick off the holiday season.”

Visitors strolling along the Riverwalk during Light Up Lauderdale will enjoy creative light displays designed by Brandano Displays, the firm that created the popular holiday light show at Tradewinds Park in Pompano Beach.
