Foster Care Review, Inc. hosted its

5th Annual Fundraising Luncheon

at Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant

Almost 200 guests attended this year’s event sponsored by Podhurst Orseck, PA, Mandel & Mandel, LLC and Akerman.  Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant was open only for this private event which began with a relaxing wine reception.  After enjoying stone crab with Joe’s traditional sides, special guest David Lawrence Jr. spoke to the crowd about the happenings of the Children’s Movement of Florida and the urgency of prioritizing children’s needs.   The luncheon ended with a dessert of key lime pie and the calling of the raffle winners- top prizes included a 7-day Caribbean cruise by Celebrity Cruises and a 2-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Miami including breakfast.
About Foster Care Review:  Foster Care Review is a volunteer based nonprofit organization that monitors the welfare of children in foster care.  Foster Care Review trains volunteers who then devote 1 day per month to serve on a panel conducting judicial reviews of the cases of foster children.  The panels examine social, physical health and mental health reports and interview review participants such as case managers, foster parents and children.  Above all, they make sure that children receive the services they need and deserve and do not fall through the cracks of the foster care system.  Funds raised at the event will help the organization continue its services to the children in Miami-Dade’s foster care system.
