Riverwalk Mutts and Martinis Yappy Hour PRESENTED BY
LARRY AND CATHY DANIELLE Raises $14,000

Fort Lauderdale, FL –Riverwalk Trust hosted the fourth annual Riverwalk Mutts and Martinis Yappy Hour presented by Larry and Cathy Danielle, Fort Lauderdale’s largest outdoor, pet-friendly cocktail hour along the Riverwalk at Briny Riverfront Pub on September 10, 2010. The event raised approximately $14,000 for the Riverwalk Trust, a non-profit organization that serves as a catalyst in building and nurturing a vibrant community centered along the New River.  A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold went towards the Humane Society of Broward County.

More than 500 people and dogs of all shapes and sizes came together for a night of celebration and networking on the Riverwalk along the historic New River. Guests enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, live music and lots of fun activities for their pets including dog massages, professional pet portraits, a fashion show and doggie ice cream.  A special “Muttstini” cocktail with Blue Ice Vodka and Gold Martini mixers was provided for all guests. Paul & Young Ron on-air radio personality Doc Reno was the special guest host.

Dog adoptions were available through Grateful Paws Dog and Cat Rescue. Non-profit partners included the Humane Society of Broward County, Pet Set, Broward Meals on Wheels pet program, The Pet Project, Share-A-Pet, Canine Assisted Therapy, Grateful Paws Dog and Cat Rescue and K9’s Cancer Walk.

“The Riverwalk Mutts & Martinis Yappy Hour was another huge success,” said Riverwalk Trust Event President and CEO Cindi Hutchinson. “We accomplished our goal to bring together the Downtown community and their favorite four-legged friends for a night of celebration and networking while raising funds for the Riverwalk Trust. With the funds raised through this event, we can continue to invest in Fort Lauderdale’s Downtown and Riverwalk areas.”

Riverwalk Trust serves as the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River. Riverwalk Trust accomplishes this mission through advocacy on behalf of the Riverwalk Park, communication through its website and Go Riverwalk magazine, its diverse offerings of events and its membership activities. Riverwalk Trust is currently pursuing projects to enhance and protect the integrity of the Riverwalk community, such as design guidelines for thoughtful development, funding for capital improvements and park enhancements, park programming and sustainability, management and final completion. It is our goal to create a public space in Downtown Fort Lauderdale where the many functions of community life can take place, where people feel ownership and connectedness and where they perceive their riverfront park as true common ground. In short, we strive to create a great waterfront place where people want to be.
