Riverwalk Mutts and Martinis Yappy Hour NETS $25,000

Fort Lauderdale, FL –Riverwalk Trust hosted the first Riverwalk Mutts and Martinis Yappy Hour presented by Larry and Cathy Danielle, Fort Lauderdale’s largest outdoor, pet-friendly cocktail hour along the Riverwalk at Briny Irish Pub. The event raised $25,000 for the Riverwalk Trust, a non-profit organization that serves as a catalyst in building and nurturing a vibrant community centered along the New River.
More than 1,100 people and dogs of all shapes and sizes came together for a night of celebration and networking on the Riverwalk along the Historic New River. Guests enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, live music, a silent auction and lots of fun activities for their pets including dog massages and caricatures.
Dog adoptions were available through the Humane Society of Broward County. Riverwalk Trust partnered with the American Kennel Club, Humane Society of Broward County, Walk for Animals, PetSet, Share-A-Pet and Meals on Wheels for Pets to generate awareness for dog-friendly causes.
Major event supporters included Larry and Cathy Danielle, Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale and Barkducci Therapeutic Gourmet Diets, Big 105.9, Three Olives Vodka, Dog House wines, Sea Dog Brewing Company, Go Riverwalk magazine, Inspiri24 Design Studios, Briny Riverfront Pub and Scott Barfield Photography.
“Our first Riverwalk Mutts & Martinis Yappy Hour was a huge success,” said Riverwalk Trust President/CEO Patsy Mennuti. “We accomplished our goal to bring together the Downtown community and their favorite four-legged friends for a night of celebration and networking while raising funds for the Riverwalk Trust. With the funds raised through this event, we can continue to invest in Fort Lauderdale’s Downtown and Riverwalk areas.
Riverwalk Trust serves as the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River. Riverwalk Trust accomplishes this mission through advocacy on behalf of the Riverwalk Park, communication through its Web site and Go Riverwalk magazine, its diverse offerings of events and its membership activities. Riverwalk Trust is currently pursuing projects to enhance and protect the integrity of the Riverwalk community, such as design guidelines for thoughtful development, funding for capital improvements and park enhancements, park programming and sustainability, management and final completion. It is our goal to create a public space in Downtown Fort Lauderdale where the many functions of community life can take place, where people feel ownership and connectedness and where they perceive their riverfront park as true common ground. In short, we strive to create a great waterfront place where people want to be.
