HIS HOUSE CHILDREN’S HOME HOSTS
6TH ANNUAL CHARITY GALA at THE RITZ-CARLTON in MIAMI BEACH
Community Members and Sponsors Join Efforts to Help Abused Children in Need
His House Children’s Home (HHCH), sponsored by Azamara Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and Comcast, held their 6th Annual Charity Gala Sat., Sept. 20 at The Ritz-Carlton in Miami Beach to raise funds for South Florida’s abused and neglected children.
Hosted by Emmy Award-winning newscaster and WPLG-TV Local 10 News Co-Anchor Calvin Hughes, over 400 guests arrived to benefit the lives of the community’s children in crisis. Greeted by servers with delicious hor' dourves, guests were eager to bid on over 100 luxurious silent auction items that filled the ballroom of which proceeds will directly impact the lives of children in need. These items included autographed sports memorabilia, exclusive art, fine dining, cruises, professional services, an entire collection of exquisite jewelry by Montica and a car raffle opportunity to win a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid.
After many months of practice, Brad Mercado, one of three brothers at His House, shared his passion and moved the audience with his first live Spanish guitar piece. All were then touched by the graceful dance performance by His Little Angels.
“Our 6th Annual Charity Gala is the most significant fundraising event of the year. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with new friends and encourage community residents to become involved as we expand the resources and services for at-risk children,” said His House Founder and Executive Director Jean Cáceres-Gonzalez.
Special guests included CIO and Vice President of Royal Caribbean International as well as HHCH Chairman of the Board Bill Martin; Mayor of Hialeah Julio Robaina; Orlando Hernández “El Duque” of the NY Mets; Britto Central Representative Estee Mandel and Yona Montero; Senior V.P. for Vista Healthplans Peter Joseph; Eastern Financial Vice President of Marketing Mark Holmes; Ikea’s Public Relations Specialist Chantal Nichtawitz and Mariel Ruiz-Escasena from Events by Mariel.
Established in 1989, His House Children’s Home (HHCH) is a private, non-profit, faith-based organization that provides excellent residential services, case-management, an in- house counseling center, the DCS-His House Academy, in addition to foster care and adoption placement to the abused, abandoned and neglected children of South Florida from newborn to 18 years of age and support to their families. The agency is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, contracted by Our Kids Inc. and Child-Net, Inc. Accredited by the national Council on Accreditation (COA), its model is unlike your typical shelter as each home is staffed with loving house parents and supportive caregivers. Today HHCH provides a safe haven for over 60 children in shelter and over 350 in foster care. His House is a healing place giving wounded children a warm loving home and renewed hope for a brighter future. We are coloring away the darkness in little hearts all over South Florida, one child at a time. For more information please visit our website at www.hhch.org.
