Riverwalk Trust Hits a Hole-in-one for Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center
The 3rd Annual Riverwalk Trust Charity Golf Tournament Nets over $52,000
The 3rd Annual Riverwalk Trust Charity Golf Tournament presented by Broward Health was a huge success, netting the organization over $53,000. Almost 140 golfers participated in the golf tournament at the newly renovated Fort Lauderdale Country Club to help raise funds toward the Riverwalk Trust and the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center (CDTC). The Riverwalk Trust, a non-profit organization that serves as the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River, donated a portion of the proceeds to CDTC.
“As community building is at the core of the mission of Riverwalk Trust, how better can you connect supporters than on the links?” said Patsy Mennuti, president/CEO of the Riverwalk Trust. “We are pleased to be able to give partial proceeds from the event to CDTC—the children are our future.”
Golfers joined in many contests and activities to help raise funds for the charities. Poker contest winner Brian O’Shea won $800 in prize money and donated it back to the organizations. Participants also took part in mulligans, raffles and a live auction for the chance to win various prizes, including trips, hotel stays and even a Riverwalk Bench. Other contests included longest drive and closest to the pin.
Tournament first place winners were Botek Thurlow Engineering: Stephen Botek, Clinton Thurlow, Jeff Lis and Randy Zerra. Second place winners were Team Medical Device Executive Solutions: Jim Hall, Derrick Caglianone, Dave Bond and Mike Anderson. Third place winners were Team ING: Peter Sayet, Kamian Kadivar, Micky James and William Dawson.

Riverwalk Trust serves as the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River. Riverwalk Trust accomplishes this mission through advocacy on behalf of the Riverwalk Park, communication through its Website and Go Riverwalk magazine, its diverse offerings of events and its membership activities. Riverwalk Trust is currently pursuing projects to enhance and protect the integrity of the Riverwalk community, such as design guidelines for thoughtful development, funding for capital improvements and park enhancements, park programming and sustainability, management and final completion. It is our goal to create a public space in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, where the many functions of community life can take place, where people feel ownership and connectedness and where they perceive their riverfront park as true common ground. In short, we strive to create a great waterfront place where people want to be.
