8th Annual "Happy Hour" for the Children's Home Society Back to School Drive
at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach!

THAT’S A LOT OF BACKPACKS!
The annual 8th Annual Children's Home Society Back-to-School cocktail party, was hosted by Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and Nordstrom Network, at the gorgous Ritz-Carlton for the Children's Home Society Back-to-School Drive to benefit The Children’s Home Society of Miami, raised more than $10,000 this year (double last year’s efforts!) to purchase school supplies for deserving Miami-Dade county children.
Nearly 50 silent and live auction items including Ritz-Carlton stays, Continental Airline tickets, NCL cruise, Kay Yockey Design jewelry and dinner at David Bouley Evolution brought in nearly $8,000.
VIP guests including co-hosts Todd Nordstrom of The Nordstrom Network and Michelle Payer with The Ritz-Carlton, Children’s Home Society Board Members Tony Treglia and Andrew Chobain, NBC-6 anchorman Willard Shepard, architect and author Deborah Desilets, James Hennessey, Brent Alexander, Dr. Bonnie Rae, Gail Pitcher and Danny Miller enjoyed complimentary wine and passed hors d’oeuvres created by Executive Chef Thomas Connell. After the soirée, many guests dined on sushi under the stars at Americana Terrace with the hotel donating 10 percent of the proceeds to Children’s Home Society.
For a minimum donation of only $20 (every dime of which will be used to help these courageous children and is fully tax deductible), guest entered the velvet ropes and joined the Children's Home Society for a fun happy hour soiree with complimentary glass of red or white wine, cash bar and light hors d'oeuvres in the gorgeous Upper Lobby at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach.
If you haven’t been to The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach lately, now is the time to go! The beautiful oceanfront hotel is the only five star hotel on South Beach -- a historic landmark with a hip, laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. The Sunday Brunch is the most spectacular on South Beach. More than 100 culinary offerings, flowing Grey Goose vodka, sherry, ports and Serrano ham carving, a Bloody Mary bar and caviar in iced Himalayan salt are just a few of the impressive temptations found nowhere else. It's the best way to spend a decadent Sunday....
As you may recall from previous years, we're big supporters of the Children's Home Society of Florida. The kids there range in age from newborn to 18 years old and have been removed from their homes for various levels of abuse and neglect.
This time of year is especially difficult for these kids, as the new school year is approaching and their friends will be arriving at school with new clothes and supplies. Many of these children have never had new supplies and in some cases were never even sent to school. The task of providing backpacks and new clothes for over 2,500 children is overwhelming, as you can imagine.
