MIAMI, FL, APRIL 18, 2007 — Women brought fashion to the Jungle styling an array of fabulous hats all for a good cause – enhancing the lives of young girls in South Florida. Founder and visionary of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, Tracy Wilson Mourning, hosted the 5th Annual Hats Off Luncheon Presented by ING at Jungle Island.
“We are humbled by the overwhelming support we received this year,” said Tracy Wilson Mourning. “These proceeds sponsor bi-monthly workshops and camp for our young girls, empowering them with the values and life tools that will give them the opportunity to be aware of and to reach their potential.”
The luncheon, presented by ING, was emceed by Lynn Martinez, of WSVN Channel 7’s Deco Drive. In addition to a silent auction, guests at the luncheon enjoyed a spring fashion show, featuring girls from the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, affectionately known as Honey Bugs, modeling the latest fashions from Aventura Mall.
“The ING Foundation proudly supports the Honey Shine Mentoring Program and the opportunity to influence the lives of young girls in South Florida,” said Rhonda Mims, the president of the ING Foundation. “Like the Honey Shine Mentoring Program and the Alonzo Mourning Charities, we are committed to our children’s education and preparing them for tomorrow.

Proceeds from the "Hats Off" event will go to Camp Honey Shine which is a continuation of furthering our mission to nurture the mind, body and souls of the Honey Bugs.

Thanks to numerous supporters, this year Camp Honey Shine will increase from a 1 week summer camp to a 3 week summer camp.  Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart has very generously opened up their doors for Honey Shine at their campus in Coconut Grove.

Honey Shine promotes independence, understanding and acceptance among these yourng ladies and encourages them to be comfortable with what they have been blessed.

The Honey Shine Mentoring Program, a program of Alonzo Mourning Charities, provides mentoring experiences that nurture the mind, body and soul of young women between the ages of 8 to 18, in at-risk situations, by enlightening their paths and creating balance in their young lives.
Alonzo Mourning Charities (AMC) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public fundraising foundation. AMC's mission is to provide support and services that enhance the lives of youth of promise. Since 1997, AMC has raised more than $6 million for various organizations that aid in the development of children and families living in at-risk situations. In addition to supporting other non-profit organizations, Mourning has focused his attention to stimulating the development of youth centers.
